Ky. bride's mother Nancy E. Middleton Notes from other researchers:  My illusive Cook is Elijah. According to the 1850 Butler County, KY census he was born in Virginia about 1791. He is shown with wife Jane G., dgtr - Elizabeth (blind); and sons - George, Andrew and Alexander. He died between 1860 and 1880, probably in Butler County. He is still shown on the 1860 census, but by 1880 Jane and Elizabeth are living with relatives. Any help on making a connection with a Cook family would be appreciated. Judi Hawbaker   I am trying to locate information concerning ancesters of Louisa Cook. She is shown on the 1850 Tn. I don't have the county. Cook, Wm. 72 , Mary 64 , Elvira 36, Louiza 27. Then in all caps. JOHN GEORGE 18. She later married John Anderson George. Dates for Louisa are: Born - December 29, 1823 in Jefferson Co., Tn. Died - February 14, 1866. It has always been said that Louisa was Cherokee. Not sure if full blood, and that her parents owned extensive land. We have always been told that Louisa was a 'crippled girl' (don't know in what way) and that John A. George was their gardner and that parents strongly objected to the marriage. After we found the census, we discovered that she was also quite a bit older which may have been the problem as well. She had two children: Mary Ann Eveline George - b.April 17, 1855 in Butler Co. Ky (we think Bowling Green), d.January 24, 1937, Booneville, Ar. AND Isaac Alonzo George - b. April 04, 1858 in Ky. d.April 08, 1939 in Oronogo,Jasper Co.Mo.--Nashville,Mo. Cem. Mary Ann is my ggrandmother who married John Thomas Finney in August 25, 1870, Cassville, Barry Co. Mo. Mary Ann Ray |
